The risk of getting diagnosed with breast cancer is almost double among women who have first degree relative (mother, sister or daughter) with the disease. The good news is that 80% cases can be cured if the disease is detected at an early stage. Let's put light on this global concern of keeping the most beautiful natural accessory intact: your breasts. Because as it is rightly said, prevention is always better than cure.
Steps of a Breast Self-Exam
Start standing topless in front of a mirror with your hands at your sides.
- Look at your breasts for any changes in size, shape, or position, or skin changes.
- Look for any puckering, dimpling, sores, or discoloration.
- Place your thumb and forefinger on the tissue surrounding the nipple and pull outward toward the end of the nipple
- Lie down and feel your nipples for any sores, peeling. Repeat on your other breast.
